RHINOCEROTIDAE: THE GLADIATOR
Standing on his four legs, his head tucked in and his shoulders forward, the rhinoceros is for Laurent Baheux an animal metaphor of the gladiator of the Roman times. His photographs were mostly taken in Kenya and Tanzania where the presence of animals is under high surveillance. Black and white adds a dramatic and dreamlike dimension to his portraits and simple scenes of the daily life of the beasts.
